Netbeans

I installed the php plugin on to netbeans. This is great since i can now debug a php page with javascript. To do this I had to also follow the netbeans tutorial on install it on Ubuntu.

Karmic

I have upgraded to karmic ubuntu alpha, but have an issue with the radeon xorg drivers and gnome some program like htop and pidgen pops dont draw correctly.

Upgrade ubuntu firefox to firefox 3.5

Many of us who use Ubuntu but would cannot wait for Ubuntu to release it, I have found this page, which gives a one line command to download firefox 3.5 and unpack it.

sudo mv /usr/bin/firefox /usr/bin/firefox-old

Ubuntu

I have a thinkpad r40 and I have moved to Ubuntu Jaunty. I am still using windows as well for programs that refuse to work with wine, Although Ubuntu still has majority of the space on the 80 gig drive.

There are a few things that sorting out like the volume controls dont work and the hibernation doesn't seem to work.

one of the biggest problems is that it seems that the xorg-xserver seems to take up a lot resources and make loading windows and web pages a drag sometimes.

I had some issues with the the xorg drivers for my ati graphic card. I can not use the driver put out by ati. xorg would take up about 20% or more of CPU time which would slow the laptop down. However I have found a website that had a forum where some had found that inserting Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy" into the xorg.conf file would solve this issue, and it works.

This is what I entered into my xorg.conf
