Many of us who use Ubuntu but would cannot wait for Ubuntu to release it, I have found this page, which gives a one line command to download firefox 3.5 and unpack it.

What i have also done to make 3.5 as my default browser
sudo mv /usr/bin/firefox /usr/bin/firefox-old
sudo ln -l /home/username/firefox/firefox /usr/bin/firefox
